How to Experience Las Vegas on a Budget

It is not impossible to enjoy Las Vegas on a budget! With a little research and planning, a visitor can anticipate and control trip expenses. Airline, auto club, travel review and discounter websites provide promotional information; it's essentially a matter of deciding what is most important to the visitor.

A significant part of the trip may be airline cost. It is important to check flight costs often (as they frequently change) and to make reservations well in advance. Lower-prices may be found for early morning, evening, or connecting flights. But, if a favorite Vegas show has available seats for the 7 PM show that are $50 less than the 10 PM one, spending a little more on airfare to arrive earlier will be worth it. If you would like to experience Las Vegas on a budget, have the big picture in mind of how you want to enjoy Las Vegas, in order to plan an itinerary that maximizes your spent dollar.

Regarding ground transportation from the airport, a cab costs at least $25 to cruise the famous, resort covered Strip, or casino-filled Downtown Las Vegas. It is less costly to rent cars away from the airport, but they are not really needed if Las Vegas is your final destination. Visitors can walk everywhere easily and safely. Guests may buy $5 unlimited passes from bus operators in the Deuce program, which will transport them all day. (There is also a pricier, off-strip monorail that connects some resorts, but trains connecting Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur resorts are free.)

Visitors have many options concerning accommodations. Older rooms in Downtown Vegas may be less than $50 per night, but hotels a block or two from the Strip may offer newer facilities and pools at comparable or just slightly higher prices. Good buys can also be found at the magnificent Strip resorts through auto club, senior, and military discounts, or mid-week specials Another option is to stay at an inexpensive lodging for part of the trip, then move to fancier accommodations. If one does not mind logistics involved with packing, it may be worth cab fare and a few extra dollars to enjoy upgraded amenities for a night or two.

Food can be pricey on the Strip, but for quick bites, the Excalibur and Circus-Circus house fast food chains, while pizza shops and delis are found behind many casinos. Food courts in the Venetian, New York New York and Miracle Mile offer moderate prices and decent-sized portions. Downtown restaurants offer excellent bargains to travelers in that area, but cab fare from the Strip is over $20. For enjoyment and value, consider a mid-level resort brunch buffets for about $15 per person. They offer enough selection to fuel the visitor through a busy day, eliminating the need to eat again until evening. It's best to avoid high-priced, resort counter service, but many casual, sit-down restaurants have a variety of choices large enough to be shared.

Most Las Vegas first-run entertainment is sold out well in advance, but there may be single seats available. If the party is willing to be seated separately, this may result in excellent seats at a good price. However, ticket outlets (Near Planet Hollywood and The Wynn) sell half-price and discount tickets for that day's productions, including less expensive afternoon shows. (Beware that online or "discount" agents can charge more than the face value of the ticket.)

Las Vegas also offers free entertainment. Treasure Island's "Sirens" production holds multiple shows daily and the fountains at Bellagio display dancing waters and lovely music every 15-30 minutes. Bellagio's Conservatory, MGM's Lion Habitat, the Tiger Exhibit and the Erupting Volcano at the Mirage are also free. Free performances at Caesar's, Circus Circus and Excalibur are especially entertaining for children, and allow guests to relax in air-conditioned comfort for an hour or so.

Other attractions carry a price tag that may not be the best use of some travelers' resources. The Venetian Gondola rides, Paris's Eiffel Tower, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef, and the amusement park rides atop the Stratosphere can take a big bite out of a wallet-even with coupons. It's just as much fun to walk through the Caesar's Forum Shops, snap pictures inside the Luxor pyramid, relax near the Wynn Waterfall, or simply browse the European markets of Paris and the Venetian.

Casinos will track individual gaming and reward it with "comps" on future hotel stays and meals. Ask casino representatives before gaming to be given full credit. It is also a good idea to take only take a portion of one's gambling budget on each trip to a casino, and quit when it has been depleted, regardless of winnings. The satisfaction of staying within a budget while going home with winnings can make the trip that much more pleasant and memorable!

2007 Surprise For Malta Holiday Industry

A recent announcement by a major UK tour operator that it is to expand its operations in Malta as a response to increased demand has caught some in the island's holiday and hotel industry by surprise.

The news from MyTravel comes after an agreement with Air Malta to increase flight capacity to the island for its customers. The MyTravel Group, one of the best known and popular UK holiday companies, includes Airtours and Direct Holidays.

The Malta Tourist Authority have greeted the news by saying that the holiday company are increasingly aware of Malta as a holiday destination and that visitor numbers would be increasing in 2007.

Malta travel guide YourMalta.com were as surprised as anyone that MyTravel were increasing capacity for Malta.

'2006 has not been a good year for the Malta tourist industry', they say. 'Overall figures could show a drop of around 100,000 visitors in 2006 compared to 2005. There hasn't been much optimism lately that 2007 will be a lot better for the island, but there are new low cost flights which could help stabilise the number of holidaymakers next year, and with Air Malta doing good promotions and starting a new route from Liverpool perhaps next year will see a long awaited turnaround in the island's fortunes. MyTravel are a good well respected company and if they think Malta is going to be in demand perhaps there is real hope'.

Good news for Malta also came from a report by US travel writer Laura McKenzie, who ranked Malta as one of the top five destinations in the world for tourists in the world.

Hotel and resort owners had watched the Maltese government earlier this year drag the negotiations out with the low cost airlines for some time, with delays in agreements losing Malta the potential of having extra tourists for this past summer season. And with a report showing that Malta could be an expensive location for 2007 holidays compared to the Spanish islands, the news from MyTravel is helping to instil a sense of optimism for the 2007 season.
Malta Holidays

'There is a possibility', comment YourMalta, 'That the introduction of the low cost airlines flying to Malta will merely delay the long term decline of the island's tourist industry. Unless money is spent on the infrastructure and improving the environment for the tourists generally there is a danger that a lot of visitors will be one-off. If there's a lesson to be learned in Malta that the government and her agencies have failed to grasp it is that sustainable tourism is built on repeat visitors. At the moment a lot of visitors from the UK see Malta as a one-off trip'.

As well as Ryanair, it was hoped that easyjet would also start services to Malta, but the latest reports are that talks have failed to produce an agreement. Brighter news has come from the island's flag carrier, Air Malta though.

As well as at one stage selling two tickets a minute in a recent promotion the airline is starting a new service from Liverpool next year.

The property market will also be keeping a close eye on tourist numbers now that the new flights have been given the green light. If visitor numbers do drop in the medium term it could be good news for locals looking to buy their first property.

There has been some discontent on the island about the rising prices of property in Malta, and with less overseas buyers the possibility of prices falling and more islanders being able to get on the property ladder could be welcome news, as today's tourist is often tomorrow's property buyer.

But now that low cost airlines are going to start offering flights to Malta, this could help the Malta hotels and holiday market as more people consider three and four day breaks instead of the traditional week or fortnight, boosting the overall number of visitors, especially if Air Malta and the low cost airlines bring the cost of Malta flights to levels seen for the Spanish islands.

Malta has traditionally seen the majority of her visitors from the UK, but this could be changing to a more diverse mix in future years.

Last year saw a record number of visitors from Italy, and increased enquiries have been received at estate agents across the island from Scandanvia, Holland, France and Belgium, helping to increase the demand for Malta properties.

It Doesn't Get Better Than A Bahamas Vacation

Next time you are planning a truly relaxing vacation trip, you should put some serious consideration into the Bahamas. The capital city is Nassau, which is located on the island New Providence, though Andros Island is the largest in the group. The Bahamas main industry is tourism, with the island being a massive tourist spot for most western countries. The 700 Islands of the Bahamas form a 500 mile archipelago, and every one of them is a reason to take the family to this island paradise.

The Bahamas are only a short distance from South Florida, and offer many affordable opportunities for an island adventure. There were Eleutheran Adventurers, persecuted by their local church and they gave Eleuthera island its name. The largest island is Andros Island.

It's believed that Christopher Columbus first landed on the island of San Salvador in the southeastern Bahamas and exchanged gifts with the Amerindians, (Taino, also known as Lucayan).

For vacationers, the Bahamas offers crystal clear turquoise waters, endless white sand beaches, perfect temperate weather -- a vacation in the Bahamas is heavenly. So whether you're making an investment or buying a vacation home, the Bahamas will welcome you with open arms. Because of its colonial heritage, you will find that the official language of the islands is still English and because it is widely spoken throughout the islands still it has been a key factor in helping the country to flourish and so become a favorite with the many people who travel to it.

If you prefer a vacation that is offering comfort then it is suggested that you take your vacation on one of the bigger islands in the Bahamas and if you want something with a bit more adventure then try one of the smaller ones.

If you are going on a trip to the Bahamas, then you will obviously need and want to know where the best places are for you to stay; one of the best places without a doubt is the Atlantis Hotel in Bahamas. The Atlantis Hotel in Bahamas is located on Paradise Island, near Nassau in the formerly British Bahamas and just a hop from Florida. Located on New Providence Island, the word "resort" barely does it justice; Atlantis is a combination of amusement park, water park, casino, spa, beach all rolled into one sparkling and gigantic package.

In 1940, clairvoyant (a person with abnormal power of seeing in the mind what is happening or what exists a distance) Edgar Cayce predicted that the lost continent of Atlantis would start to rise again in the vicinity of The Bahamas in 1968 or 1969.

Despite the fact that water-related activities are the most apparent enticements, these tranquil and welcoming islands also offer an assortment of rainy-day options, above all in Nassau and on neighboring Paradise Island. The Bahamian Islands cover 100,000-square-miles of tropical paradise that comprises over 650 islands and 2400 cays and located a mere 50 miles off the Florida coast. The endless stretch of spectacular sand and sea, the Bahamas is a beach lover's paradise that should not be missed.

You can meet up with dolphins in shallow waters on the Blue Lagoon Island, just 20 minutes from Paradise Island, Nassau. It's impossible to get past that first impression of Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas and you'll be reminded of it everywhere you go in the resort.

These shark dives are available in both Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas. The warm sunshine, attractive beaches and laid-back lifestyle attract large numbers of tourists to Nassau and Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. There is very little industry apart from an oil refinery at Freeport and a rum distillery on New Providence.

One is at the Port Lucaya area located on the south shore of island and the other is near downtown Freeport which is more inland. I have traveled to Freeport twice and stayed in the Port Lucaya area both times.

Every travel agency has its own selection of Bahamas honeymoon packages, so it is worthwhile to shop around and find the one that reaches your highest expectations. A passport and visa may be required, so verify with your travel agent exactly what paperwork you should bring to stay out of trouble. If you don't already have one, note that it can take 6-8 weeks or more these days to get a passport. While the beaches of the Bahamas are the premier tourist attraction, there are many more things to do if you travel inland.

The Bahamas is also a popular stop on many cruise ships, that spend anywhere from 1 day to 3 days in port so their cruise ship passengers can experience the Bahamas.

Consider a Bhamas vacation for one of the most relaxing vacations you have ever taken in a location that is just south of paradise.

Hot Winter Travel Destinations for Canadians

Ask Canadians where they are heading for a winter break and you are most likely to hear Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Caribbean cruises. These tourist spots are quite hot among Canadians, because of their sun-soaked beaches and mildly warm climate. Industry experts agree that tourism demands for all these locations are hitting their all-time high because of the lavish accommodation, sight-seeing arrangements, and the variety of travel packages, which these destinations offer.

Mexican Coastal Resorts

In Mexico, Mayan Riviera, Cozumel on the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun, and Los Cabos on Baja Peninsula are the most popular tourist destinations. Particularly, the Yucatan has witnessed a spectacular rise in resort and hotel development because of its amazing beaches and Mayan archaeological sites such as Chichen Itza and Tulum. The Mayan Riviera is also popular as the top destination for Canadian travelers. Climbing up the popularity charts are also Puerto Vallarta and a revitalized Acapulco on the Pacific coast. In Puerto Vallarta, the destination that is gaining rapid popularity is Nuevo Vallarta, which is located at north of the old town.

Growing Golf in Cuba

Cuba was devoid of any golf culture until the famous Varadero Golf was built. After it was set up, the island has just not looked back in terms of the sport's popularity. Today, Cuba is the most sought after golf destination and is a vital attraction for the local as well as international sports lovers. Currently, the much famous Varadero Golf Club does over 32,000 rounds annually. It intends to add nine more holes to its existing facility, according to the management. A European has been given the responsibility to design the new golf site that is likely to have five holes on ocean, instead of the existing two.

Dominican Republic's all-inclusive Packages

The growing popularity of The Dominican Republic as a tourist spot is reflected in a spectacular rise in its hotel rooms to nearly 40,000. The destination is among the favorite tourist spot for the Canadians, because of its all-inclusive vacations. In such packages, one up-front payment covers facilities including airfare, accommodation, unlimited alcohol, food, and resort activities like tennis and windsurfing. So much so that the popularity of the Dominion Republic's all-inclusive packages have reached Caribbean and Mexican destinations. Canadian tourists heading to the Dominion Republic pay as low as $999 per person for an all-inclusive trip to a hotel/resort situated at just 10 minutes away from Puerto Plata.

Caribbean Cruises

Even the biggest tropical storms move at snail's pace when compared with the cruise ships, which is the biggest reason for the growing popularity of the Caribbean cruises. The nice weather of the Caribbean serves like an icing on the hot cake. Even a hurricane in the cruise's path seems like a vacuum cleaner that sucks the moisture out of the air, leaving behind bright sunny days for the tourists. Moreover, with the political uncertainties across the globe, the Canadians prefer holiday trips close to home, which is another reason contributing towards the increasing popularity of Caribbean cruises.

Keeping Your Kids Happy During a Keystone Colorado Ski Vacation

Tips: Clothing: Make sure your children are dressed in layers. We all know that layering allows our bodies to accommodate our constantly changing temperature. Avoid cotton clothing as it retains moisture and try some of the readily available wicking fabric products. A Turtleneck, fleece and jacket are all a good idea and the little one's can shed layers as necessary.

Body Fuel: Stuff your pockets with Powerbar-like snacks, nuts, and dried fruit. Inevitably, someone will want to quit before others are ready because of hunger.

Extras: Make sure to keep a gear bag in the car with extra clothing items like mittens, socks, headbands, sunglasses, goggles, sunscreen, and lip balm. long underwear and socks. If you've ever seen the monumental size of the lost and found boxes at ski resorts, you will know that is only inevitable that someone will forget something...

Protective Eyewear: I can't emphasize this enough. I hear more horror stories from my ophthalmologist friends about the dangers of the Colorado sun on young eyes, especially when it reflects off the snow. Make sure your children have UV protective sunglasses or goggles.

Plan for Being Separated on the Slope. While we all hope it never happens, I can assure you, it can happen much faster than you think. Make sure you plan a meeting place before you begin skiing in the event your child becomes lost. The information booth is a good place or decide which lift you will ski next so if you get separated. Make sure your child carries a piece of paper in a secure pocket that has your home, cell and lodging phone number as well as your name. Inexpensive walkie talkies are now available and are a big hit on the slopes.
Planning a little in advance ensures a great adventure, fun, laughter. It is a wonderful feeling to know that your children's fondest childhood memories were of your family ski vacations.

How NOT to book a vacation

You've read it all about how "TO" book that dream vacation. But is that enough for a fail-safe getaway? Can you rest assured that you're a SUREFIRE because you know what to do?

Joanne was excited about this long awaited vacation. It had been two years since she sauntered the streets of Puerto Rico. Tanning, beach BBQs, cocktail parties, dancing the nights away were all things of the past.

Besides the occasional weekend get-together with friends, there was hardly anything she did that she could call FUN. Perhaps, this was the situation for most of us. For some, planning a vacation feels like building castles in the sky! We hardly save enough when we live on a super tight budget.

After much deliberation, she finally decided to give it a whirl, take that leap of faith and plan her dream vacation. She thought "It's now or never", girl. Overworked, underpaid, exhausted and clearly in need of a break, mistakes were bound to be made in planning, and boy were they ever.

She called up her travel agent and asked them to book a package vacation to Zurich. Ah, the breathtaking the Swiss Alps! Unfortunately, what you don't know is that Joanne's IDEAL ski getaway was actually a tourist trap. She ended up paying almost double the actual cost without any upgrades or special discounts.

During the flight, she could have easily gained an upgrade, given the miles she had accrued in Star Alliance's Miles and More frequent fliers program. But her agent booked an airline, which is not a Star Alliance partner. What a lost opportunity!

Joanne's first mistake was that she planned and booked in haste. When, in fact, budget travel requires planning well in advance, scouring the internet for the cheapest air fare, searching for discount accommodations, cheap rent-a-cars, etc. I mean, really, who can afford to take the first travel package that comes their way?

Any discerning traveler today would prefer a travel website over an agent it's one of the advantages of the World Wide Web! Keep surfing for the best deals. Compare each website and calculate all the pros and cons. Never book in a hurry.

When you have time, you can always book in advance and grab the lowest airfare. So why wait until the last few days and pay top dollar? Okay, you want to snatch a last minute deal. Here's what you need NOT do in this case. Don't book during peak travel times; i.e. Fridays, Sunday evenings, Monday mornings, the day before and after a holiday, or mid-day flights. Joanne's agent had her flying out on a Friday evening flight!

Also, don't book another air flight when you have flier miles accrued with your regular airline or the airline's partners. This means, if you're a frequent flyer of Star Alliance partner airlines, ideally, you shouldn't change over to Oneworld or Sky Team. Changing to a different alliance will eliminate your eligibility for the upgrades and benefits, which you could earn from your frequent fliers program. Thus, while Joanne could have opted for a Swiss Airlines flight to Zurich, her agent booked British Airways. Swiss Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, which she uses quite frequently for all her domestic trips. Hence, this time, she couldn't use her flier miles.

So, you see, planning can earn you incredible benefits and even more savings. So, learn from Joanne's mistake! Plan your vacation wisely and don't just take the first deal that comes your way. Scour the internet for the best deals out there. Look at all-inclusive vacation packages versus a la carte vacations.

Discover, Dine and Explore in the San Diego Gaslamp District

© 2007, All Rights Reserved

With a rich history dating back two centuries, San Diego's Gaslamp district melds an eclectic mix of modern and historic sites. Its interesting array of activities offer so much to do, you can easily spend days on end exploring the district. Hotel chains as well as independently operated hotels found in the Gaslamp district put you within walking distance of practically everything. With plenty to interest families, couples and solo travelers, an excursion to this popular downtown area makes for an exciting vacation regardless of age.

With humble beginnings, the town of San Diego was originally founded by William Heath Davis in 1850; his own home being the first building constructed. However, the depression ended Davis' dream of developing a thriving waterfront area. That dream would be realized 17 years later under the direction of Alonzo Horton. It wasn't until the construction of the wharf was completed in 1869 that the town began to boom.

Today, you'll find a bustling area in the San Diego Gaslamp district. A wide selection of hotels, over 125 restaurants and coffeehouses plus theaters, casinos and shops make their homes in the 94 buildings located within 16 blocks. The district itself is in a prime location, only three miles from the world-renowned San Diego Zoo and just one block from PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres.

World-Class Cuisine

With selections from around the globe, kids and adults alike can find amazingly diverse options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Time-honored favorites including delis and steakhouses are available as well as Italian, Mexican, Irish and sushi. Those looking for a little culinary adventure can feast at Indian, Thai and Persian restaurants which are also found in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The exceptional cuisine is due, in part, to San Diego's proximity to fresh California produce and artisan products. Locally grown varieties of lettuce, colored peppers, citrus products, peaches and more abound practically year round. In addition, California's cattle population means fresh dairy products are always at hand.

San Diego Luxury Hotel Accommodations

At the heart of the area is the carefully preserved business district of the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. Luxury hotel accommodations give you the freedom to explore the area on foot and easily access all the goings-on (and avoid the sometimes difficult task of parking in the Quarter). A short walk back to your room let's you trade shopping bags for baseball tickets or dinner reservations, or take a well-deserved nap.

Tours, Festivals and Entertainment

Filled with regal Victorian architecture, the Gaslamp district is stunning to behold. Virtually all the buildings were constructed in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Taking center stage, fittingly, is the "pillbox" home of William Heath Davis that still stands to this day. But it's what takes place on the streets that is often equally as interesting.

Walking tours are available from professional guides, many of whom adorn period-style costumes. Take an in-depth look at the William Heath Davis house, the Chinese Mission School or numerous other interesting buildings in the Gaslamp district.

If visiting during February, attending Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp is a must. This street festival is reminiscent of the best New Orleans has to offer, including Cajun cooking and Zydeco and jazz music. March introduces the annual Latino Film Festival as well as St. Patrick's Day's ShamROCK festival where live bands keep the fun going from morning till night. In addition, spring training for the San Diego Padres gears up in March followed by regular season activity beginning in April. The San Diego Zoo has special happenings during spring and summer including their annual Garden Celebration in May as well as spring and summer camps and sleepover events for both children and adults.

Loosen your belt in June for the Taste of Gaslamp festival when countless restaurants prepare one-of-a-kind recipes and house specialties for all to indulge in. Thankfully, the Rock and Roll Marathon is also held in June with a 26.2-mile course laden with 26 entertainment stages, 40 cheerleading squads as it winds from Balboa Park through the Gaslamp Quarter ending at Point Loma. Fall ushers in another exciting season of Chargers football just a few miles from the Quarter at Qualcomm Stadium.

With so much to see, do and taste in the San Diego Gaslamp district, one day is never enough. To experience everything, plan a longer stay or return to San Diego frequently. The beautiful Southern California weather combined with the diversity and excitement of this remarkable city makes for a perfect getaway all year long.

Why Algonquin Park is the Ideal Spring Vacation Destination for Naturalists and Outdoorsmen

Springtime has arrived in central Ontario. It's already the middle of April and, although there is a fresh blanket of snow on the ground, the age-old cycle of rebirth and new life is well underway. For naturalists and outdoorsman, spring is the best time of year to get out and observe wildlife in action and there is no better place to do it than Ontario's world-renowned Algonquin Provincial Park. The following paragraphs will address how Algonquin Park stands apart from other vacation destinations that cater to the naturalist and outdoorsman.

Algonquin Park is located approximately two and a half hours north of the city of Toronto, and is a protected wilderness sanctuary that encompasses over 7,725 square kilometres of pristine forests, lakes, rivers and wetlands. Algonquin's wide varieties of natural habitats provide a safe refuge for a staggering diversity of plant and animal life. 53 species of mammals, 272 species of birds, 31 species of reptiles and amphibians, 54 species of fish, and approximately 7000 species of insects are all found within Algonquin's borders. In addition, there are well over 1000 species of plants and another 1000 plus species of fungi growing in the Park. With such a wide array of plants and animals, Algonquin Park in Ontario is truly one of a kind making it the ideal vacation destination for naturalists and outdoorsmen alike.

Although most animal species can be observed July through November in Algonquin Park, the best viewing can be found in April, May, and June. This is the short period, just after hibernation, when food sources become readily available and animals are busy taking advantage of the newly emerging abundant sources of food, and before it gets too hot in the summer when wildlife tend to travel further into the forest where it is cooler.

In addition, May is the month for moose watching in Algonquin Provincial Park. According to park officials, the best moose viewing in the province occurs along the park's Highway 60 corridor, any morning or evening in May. At this time of year, it is quite common to see a half dozen or more of these magnificent creatures standing at the side of the road. The highest number of recorded sightings for one pass along the highway is 26 moose.

Visitors to the park, who take the time to stay for more than a day, generally become more familiar with where the best wildlife observation areas are and the best times to wait which makes for a more successful and satisfying wilderness experience.

Despite all of the natural habitat that exists in Algonquin Park, a few of the nearby resorts have capitalized on the strong market for spring eco-tourism and wildlife observation by offering nature lovers special spring vacation packages tailored especially to their interests. Additionally, Algonquin Park accommodations are combined with a variety of value added incentives including wilderness tours, educational materials, and recreational equipment.

Algonquin Park offers an abundance of plants and wildlife that other provincial and national parks can't compete with making it the ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. When planning your next spring vacation, think about the extent of activities that are available at Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park.

Top 5 Destinations for Action-Packed Vacations

The word "vacation" means different things to different people. Some want to lounge on the beach sipping a pi?olada while others crave adventure. Before booking your next vacation, you'll want to make sure the destination offers what you're looking for.

Vacation spots such as Europe center around history and culture more than activities. While sightseeing and tours are plentiful, those with a need for speed will likely long for something more. With that in mind, here are my recommendations for the top 5 action-packed destinations.

Number 5 - Mexico

From Cozumel to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico offers a great variety of activities for thrill seekers. Hike through dense rainforests or explore jungles, plunge down a natural waterfall, race off on a Baja four-wheeler adventure or Jeep safari, soar to new heights while parasailing high above the ocean and much more.

Number 4 - The Bahamas

One of the most popular cruise destinations, the Bahamas gives you plenty of opportunities for fun. Swim with dolphins or dive deeper with a guided scuba adventure. Participate in an actual race aboard one of two America's Cup vessels as part of the sailing team or hop aboard a Thriller powerboat for a high-speed tour you'll not soon forget.

Number 3 - Hawaii

Hawaii has some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world, but it is also filled with excitement for adventure seekers. Catch a wave off Oahu's famous North Shore, which offers some of the best surfing in the world. Hike through lava fields to the top of active volcanoes for up-close views of fire pits, lava tubes and an 11-mile crater rim. Dolphin encounters, off-road adventures and more are also available.

Number 2 - Alaska

Just imagine yourself flying across an expanse of solid white with a team of dogs under your control. Dog sledding is just one of the many quests Alaska delivers. Tour the Inside Passage for a salmon-fishing tour guaranteed to get your heart pumping. Hop a high-speed catamaran and zip past blue icebergs, as white thunder crashes all around you, or explore the most remote areas of the Juneau Icefield by foot. The frozen tundra awaits!

Number 1 - The Caribbean

Reportedly the number-one cruise vacation spot of all time, the Caribbean is comprised of a string of small islands dotted throughout the Atlantic Ocean. There's little wonder why with all the thrilling excursions you can participate in. Climb Jamaica's Dunn's River Falls, go whitewater rafting or mountain biking in Costa Rica's rainforests. Snorkel with stingrays, ride horses on the beach... from helmet diving to jungle-river tubing, you'd better take your vitamins because the Caribbean will keep you on your toes.

The world is filled with exceptional destinations for thrill seekers, but these 5 top the list of satisfying the action lover's thirst. Before booking a cruise to any location, check the list of available excursions to ensure you'll have numerous options to keep you busy.

Dubai's World Class Hotels Posted By : Pankaj Mohan

Dubai's skyline has grown in the recent years by an amount, which took over a century for the developed nations to achieve in their own backyard. In Dubai's case, it was the oil exploration at first, and then the commerce of free trade zones, which made it be counted at par with the developed nations. The desire to see its tourism sector flourish and the gains of a thriving economy, were the two major reasons why Dubai's skyline grew so frantically in the last two decades. In the course of events, the city also became the new residing place for world class hotels. Gone were the heydays of Sydney, London, New York and Tokyo. Dubai hotels were also standing at par, shoulder-to-shoulder, eyeball-to-eyeball with them. Today's Dubai offers several dozen of world class hotels to make your stay comfortable. Apart from Dubai hotels (United Arab Emirates) one can choose from many other options, like furnished villas and beach side apartments, to make one's stay at ease.

Let us examine the following data to learn more about Dubai hotels. Until the early 90s, they were not to be found in so many numbers out there. By the start of 2000 however, this ground reality had dramatically transformed. One s gets awed by looking at their numbers these days. This author counted on just one site and found more than three dozen entries for the five-star facility alone. The count for the four, three and two star hotels will be even more awesome, one reckons. There were a total of 414 hotels in Dubai in the year 2006. They were the mainstay for accommodating the 6.5 million visitors who visited the city that year. The revenues earned by these hotels stood at Dh10.8b in the same period. This however grew by 15.74 percent to be at Dh12.5b in the year 2007. This also discloses the stress on Dubai hotels (United Arab Emirates), furnished villas and Dubai hotel apartments in their attempts to cope with the level of demand they face from the industry.

This is why Dubai's government has nodded to too many new plans that promised to construct newer furnished villas, furnished apartments and Dubai hotels (United Arab Emirates) on its territory. The total number of rooms stood at 40,862 in all these segments, in the year 2006. This will have to be further raised by a handsome margin to meet with the set official target of receiving 15 million visitors by the year 2010. Two key events, one of which was recently held, and the other still on, are expected to help Dubai in meeting out with its 2010 target. The first was Dubai's 1st Tourism Development Projects and Investment Market (TDIM) exhibition, which was to be held from January 20-22, 2008. Major real estate companies from all over the world were expected to showcase projects worth over $190 billion. The idea behind it was to get various components of Dubai's urban growth together, namely real estate firms, private companies, investors and government bodies, and frame out the future course of action.

The other event, which is taking place across Dubai right now, is the 13th Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). This will coincide with many recreational programs at places like shopping malls, Dubai hotels and elsewhere, apart from the shopping mania that the festival was all about. The show to be held from January 24 to February 24 (2008), is expected to attract 3.5 million visitors from all over the globe.

Choosing Where to Go On Vacation

Choosing where to go on holiday is becoming increasingly hard with so many options available. Where ten years ago people were restricted by price and what there local travel agent had to offer, today the effects of the internet and cheap flights have changed all that for the better. Today choosing where to go can be so difficult because there are so many options available, so many resources to check, and so many bargains it is hard to know you are getting the best deal.

Budget

Before you decide where to go on vacation it is important that you set a budget first. This will ensure that you do not become too attached to a place you can't afford, and it is also a great way to ensure that everyone going on the holiday can afford the expenses associated with it. Always keep in mind that although group holidays can be great fun, not everyone is in the same financial situation or has the same preferences. When setting a budget it is important that you remember that there are other costs besides what you pay for your hotel room; spending money, food, flights and insurance are all costs you will have to incur as well.

What do you want from your holiday?

If you want to go on vacation to get a sun tan then Norway is probably not the best location for you! Likewise if you are looking for a ski trip then a trip to Holland could be a waste of time. That is why it is important to set some informal vacation objectives, and therefore you can consider what choices will suit you best. A great way to find the location that is best suited to you is by searching online. If you would like to sample French cuisine, then why not look for an area of France that is near the restaurants you would like to visit? There are also great online resources for finding out what the weather is likely to be in a certain place at a certain time of year. Just remember, that unexpected weather does happen, and you should not let it ruin your vacation.

Finding a great deal

Finding a great deal can be the hardest part of selecting a vacation. With so many options, how can you be sure you are getting a good deal? One way to do this is by surfing the web. On the internet you can often find websites that are specifically tailored to finding holiday deals. However, if you are looking to pick up a real bargain you often have to make compromises in terms of where you are going to stay, how long you are going to stay for and when you are going to travel. Another way to ensure you cut costs is by ordering online or by dealing with the hotel directly. This can remove inefficiencies from the deal and can go some way to removing unnecessary costs.
